One of the aspects of the technological advancement is that when the new technology comes, the old one has to depart. The technology that looks promising when it comes phases out soon and gets replaced with something more exciting, innovating, and more advanced. Let us talk about 5 such technologies here that were once a hit, but exist no more now.
The maker of the Windows phone, Microsoft, had to agree in the year 2017 that their Windows Phone is no more. Joe Belfiore, the company’s senior executive, tweeted that the company has now stopped investing in the Windows mobile. They are not innovating or launching any new features or hardware for the Windows Mobile.
He also mentioned in his tweets that the customers who already have the Windows Mobile need not worry as the company will keep providing the necessary support. They will keep up their job of doing bug fixes, security updates, etc.
3D tv, which was supposed to rule our lives once, has phased out already. A few years ago, when this idea was being conceptualized and executed, it seemed that it would become one of the most liked technology. But at the year 2017 came, while the established and popular TV brands such as Sony TV and LG stopped proving the 3D technology in their TVs, Samsung had stopped providing the 3D technology a year ago in 2016 only.
Microsoft Groove Music:
A two-minute silence for Microsoft Groove Music, please. Another one from the Microsoft dead products, Groove Music, was announced “no more” recently on December 31, 2017. The details came as “The Groove Music Pass streaming service will be discontinued and will no longer be available.”
Though the built-in Groove Music app will not cease to play and entertain you with the music that you have already bought or downloaded and uploaded the same to OneDrive, the same will not stream or play any Groove Music now onwards.
Nintendo Entertainment System:
NES Classic Edition is also not present anymore. As per a Nintendo of America representative, “ìThroughout April, NOA territories will receive the last shipments of Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition systems for this year.”
The company said further that if anyone still finds an inclination towards having this product, they can go ahead and find the availability for NES Classic Edition at the retail outlets. The company went on to thank the customers for their interest and support for the product.
Ok, the last one is from the Microsoft list too. Microsoft Kinect, the motion-sensing accessory for Xbox 360 and Xbox One gaming consoles, has been rolled out. This came in the year 2010. In fact, in 2011 the Kinect for Xbox 360 was identified as the fastest selling technology of the year. You will be surprised to know that it entered the Guinness World Records too. But, Kinect is out of the market now.
